One of the first BMW vehicles to be rolled out in both the sedan as well as the touring body styles, the BMW 5 series is the second largest selling model of cars from BMW. Currently in its 6th generation, the car accounts for 50% of the company's profits- the highest for any model to have been manufactured by BMW ever. In January 2008, the 5 series had one of its most glorious moments in the history when the company sold its 5 millionth car.
Traditionally the 5 series was the 5th model of cars to have been launched by BMW in the line if the “new series” of vehicles and hence the name. Designed and launched with the intention of replacing the New Six sedan line of cars from BMW, the 5 series has been quite a successful brand of cars and has formed its own cult-classic image along with evolving over the years that it has been in production. With the launch of the 5 series, BMW also laid down the foundation for the tradition of naming their models in three-digit number with the first name representing the model and the following two digits expressing the engine type- in terms of the size.
The BMW 528 offers driving enthusiasts the perfect mix between the comfort and practicability of a sedan and the sheer adrenaline rush of a super car. This precisely is the reason why this car is such a hit with all driving enthusiasts. With the latest 5 series cars, BMW has mastered the art of handling rough corners with ease without compromising on the safety or comfort of the passengers. The car handles smooth and is responsive.
Powered by an engine comprising of a hefty 230 horses, the 528 has a 6 cylinder engine that is quite a handful for regular as well as over-the-top driving conditions. Manual gear shifts are a welcome sign for many old-school drivers and personally, we're glad that BMW still offers the manual gear shifts as the standard- though automatic versions are also available at no extra cost in many countries. The standard safety features include front and rear side air bags, front seat head on air bags with the rear seat head on air bags being optional, traction control, stability control, anti-lock discs and a whole lot of other features that make the car really safe.
The 2010 5 series carries the DNA from the model of the past. The car has the signature sleek and chiseled look and those angel eyes are just as mesmerizing as anything in this world could get!
