Selling new items on ebay is the hard way to make money on ebay.  Unless you can get those items at a price cheaper than everyone else you will find it hard to compete.  So how can you make money on ebay?

Collectables

Collectables are hot.  Especially small items that don't cost a fortune to ship.  Believe me shipping is a killer and it can eat up all of your profits like a Crocodile loose in a Chihuahua shop.  

Used Items

To really make a go on ebay you need a steady supply of sellable items that you got for next to nothing.  You can find these items at yard sales, estate sales, and storage locker auctions, just to name a few.

Information Products

The best thing about information products is that you can create them yourself or purchase them with resale rights at low prices.  Then burn them onto a CD and you are ready to roll.  You can find products like ebooks, videos, software at a resale rights membership site.

OK you have found something on ebay that you really, really want to buy, but so do a bunch of other people. What do you do?

Play It Cool

Wait until the last ten seconds. You might notice the countdown timer go a little faster. That means that people are bidding. Put in a high enough bid right after you see that timer tweak out. With any luck you will win the item. The thing is to take it cool and not panic. If you panic you will hit the wrong buttons and screw up. Then you will be banging your head against your desk because you missed out on such an amazing deal.

Do Bids Update Automatically?

Supposedly they do but why take a chance. Keep refreshing the page just in case.
