Twittering

With the website twitter you can stay up to date, with real time posts, on the people who you are following. Twitter has been refered to as "micro blogging" because unlike a blog, you can only make short posts called tweets. When I joined twitter I didn't know what it was about, or what to do with it. It ended up being alot funner to use than I expected. Currently I follow 11 people, and will be adding some more. Even the president of the United States, Barack Obama, is on twitter. You can see what he has been tweating about below.

Why use twitter? Thats a good question. After all how much can you communicate with so few words? Also why would you want to share to the world every little update?

One reason I really like twitter is that it is like a log I can look back on and see what I was doing at a point in time.

Twitter is also good for promoting other sites. Whenever I update my blog I post that on twitter.

Twitter can also be useful as a business tool. Image that you work at home for a company but they still want to be able to keep tabs on you. Just update on twitter as you work so the boss knows you are busy.

Twitter is an easy way to create backlinks and generate a buzz about your website.  As you probably know google likes fresh content.  A blog is the best way to easily update your site on a regular basis.  Every time you make a blog post be sure to tweet it.  As your followers increase the amount of instant traffic you can generate this way is quite impressive.  

You can also put your twitter rss feed on you blog or your website so that you always have new content showing up on your site.  You could even put it on your hubpage just like I did above.  It is quick, it is easy, and it works.
